What is the most important issue for a merino wool base layer

Merino wool as a natural fiber is  soft, breathable, wicking and odor free. All these characters make it the excellent material for a base layers. Those benefits are perfect for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.

Firstly, we should consider the weight if the base layers, it have weight from 130 to 280gsm even more.

Normally, when we choose a short sleeve merino wool T-shirt or a polo shirt.  We could choose 130 to 180gsm. The micron count of the merino wool could be 17 or less.

When we choose a long sleeve base layer for the first layer, the weight of the fabric could be 180 to 200 gsm. The micron count of the merino wool could be 17 to 18.5

If we choose a mid layer or a second layer, the weight of the fabric could be 200 to 220 gsm. The micron count of the merino wool could be 18.5 to 19.5

If we need a quiet heavy layer for extreme cold weather, we could choose a terry construction or fleece fabric. The weight could be 230 more.

Secondly, we could consider size. When we need a base layer under the clothing, we could choose a slim fit size. If we choose a base layer like a mid layer, we could choose loose fit size.

Thirdly, we could consider the color. Normally it is quiet open for different taste. But we could choose from our end use.

For outdoor, we could choose sharp color.

For hunting, we could choose olive, brown even camouflage printing

For fishing, we could choose blue, navy or white and so on.
